In the courtyard of a multilevel nativity fenced off with a silver chain and the Krakow city coat of arms a joyous group is performing a Christmas play for the Holy Family. The players include Krakow townspeople and Goral, Tatra mountain Highlanders all clad in traditional costumes, accompanied by a chimney sweeper that according to folk lore brings good luck. On the floor stands the figure of the legendary Lajkonik the half man half horse figure that saved Krakow from the invading Tatar in the 13th c. On the second level looking at the performance is the Holy Family and on the third level are three church spires including the crowned spire of the St. Mary church with the Polish eagle at the top and two golden spires with the Polish flag.
