4 1/2 " diameter, round ball, glass ornament. Polish wooden churches are quite unique structures. Their uniqueness was recognized by UNESCO world heritage. These churches are mostly found in the region of Maloploska of Poland, where Krakow is located and Pope John Paul II spent most of his life prior to moving to Rome and becoming a Pope. The Polish wooden churches are very unique in look. They have originated in the late medivial period, and began with Gothic ornamentation and polychrome details, but because they were made wholly from timber, the structure, feeling and form are totally different than Gothic architecture. There are local influences in these churches. These unique wooden churches, form open air museums in the area, and are a beloved feature of the Maolopolska region, from where Pope John Paul II comes. The local people are very proud of these churches, and their unique cultural heritage.
