Description

6 x 2″

A glorious glass Christmas ornament of an angel from john La-Farge series of four watercolors  drawings on paper  for a mural design, of angels representing Adoration, Praise, Thanksgiving and love. The angel, from the Thanksgiving angels group. The beautiful angel with brown hair, has lavishly glittered wings, very detailed, towering high above her head and covering most of her golden dress in the back. The angel is wearing a full folded golden dress with long light blue sash tied around her waist and flowing all the way  to the bottom of her gown curving beautifully in the front and the back. In her left hand she is holding a long scroll. While this image was drawn by an American artist of the late 19th century, it has a lot in common with traditional Renaissance and European painting.

The Adoration, Praise, Thanksgivings and Love angel is a series of 4 watercolor drawings on paper. Each of the drawings has three angels representing in turn one of the themes. Drawn in 1890-1900 , the drawings are watercolor on paper and were destined for a mural design for which La Frage was very well known and many of them are in churches and public offices as well as private homes. He also did many stained glass windows  had a patent issued for some innovation and was a rival of Tiffany.
